Getting Personal And All That Noise

I’ve been wanting to do a more personal write up for awhile now, but I couldn’t figure out what to write. So I’ll just write about what’s going on now in my life because I know how interested you all are, wink wink.

  • These last 6 weeks of classes are going to be keeping me really busy work wise. I have 2 presentations; one Friday and another in 2 weeks, a bunch of papers; small Psych papers, a Roman Civ paper and a Bio and Sociology paper coming up down the road, and I also have my next Bio exam next Friday (so here comes a buttload of studying) and a Psych exam in about 2 weeks. Although this would stress a lot of people out, I just see it as a challenge, so I say bring it on which is a much needed attitude to get all this work done. And the bright side is this will help the weeks go by fast since I’ll be focused on work.
  • In the music department things are a little different as well. Normally it’s all Johnny Cash all the time, which I dare anyone to find fault with. But lately it’s been a mix of a lot of ol’ Johnny Cash (as per usual) and a lot of Adele surprisingly enough. I have simply fallen in love with Adele’s music and I really wish she had more music available because it’s just so great. Her music is wonderful and her personality is really funny which always makes me like an artist more. Plus, I found out today in an interview she said she’s always loved Johnny Cash and June Carter is one of her idols so I mean how can I not love Adele.
  • A more personal issue I can share is that I’m still dealing with something I’ve been dealing with my entire college career (nearly 2 years). I go through periods where I just feel really, well blah I guess fits. Not depressed because I’ve been through that a couple times and I know the difference. I mean most of the time (at college and of course at home) I’m an extremely happy person; I love life and everything about it. But from time to time I just feel “blah” for a few hours or so for a variety of reasons; missing my friends, just missing being home, and sometimes I don’t really know the reason. I’m sure this a typical thing for college students but I figured I’d share it so if there are others out there feeling the same way they know they’re not alone.
  • On a happier note, I really can’t wait for summer for a plethora of reasons. One being I’m more than likely going back to my old high school to help out with certain classes again. I did it last year and loved every minute of it, so I can’t wait for round two. Also, I get to see my friends on a regular basis. I have a couple of friends her at college I talk to and whatnot, but the core people in my life are either at different schools or still in my hometown, so being with them is always a blast. Then there’s that whole sleeping in thing, oh yeah, me and my bed are going to get all kinds of intimate this summer!!
  • And wrapping this badboy up, as far as my 50 Movie Challenge goes here’s a little update. I now own nearly half (if not more) of the movies on that list, I just need to get back to watching them. I think the next one I’ll watch is Airplane! but I’m not sure, depends on what type of movie I feel like watching.

My Thoughts On 3-D

I’m really bored so I decided to do this little write up about how I feel about 3-D. Plain and simple, I think it’s incredibly stupid, moreso nowadays. I remember back when a movie being in 3-D was an event. It was a draw to see the movie because 3-D movies were a rarity which kept 3-D fresh. But today nearly all movies come out in 3-D and for no good reasons. There are so many movies that have absolutely no need for 3-D but for whatever reason the film makers throw it in. The only logical reason I can think is that they use the 3-D so much is so they can charge a few extra bucks on ticket prices. My biggest annoyance with the 3-D in so many movies is that they don’t use it well, it shows up a couple of times for the ol’ something coming at you gag and that’s it. I’m sorry, I watch movies for the story, character development, and acting, not for cheap, unneeded gags.

My movie that set me off on this tangent is Titanic. The film is going to be re-released into theaters this year in 3-D. Now I completely understand re-releasing the film because it’s one of the most successful movies and has an enormous fan base. If they left it alone I would have no reason to complain, but there is absolutely no reason to put this movie in 3-D. I mean really, do you think fans want to see the iceberg coming at that them?! (I’m sure there are a few weirdos who do). But in all seriousness, leave films like this one alone, it doesn’t need to be in 3-D, most films don’t. Take a lesson from Star Wars: Episode I; movies transferred into 3-D likely turn out crappy, you know why, it wasn’t filmed with 3-D Cameras.

I’ll stop my ranting here and just say that 3-D has become such a gimmick these days and I’m still waiting to see a movie that uses the 3-D well. I want it to feel necessary, not just for things popping out and added depth of vision.
