The song Wayworn Traveler by Johnny Cash and his son John Carter Cash, this song is beyond beautiful I can’t stop listening to it, so I decided I needed to share it with all of you.
I’ve been wanting to do a more personal write up for awhile now, but I couldn’t figure out what to write. So I’ll just write about what’s going on now in my life because I know how interested you all are, wink wink.
I’m really bored so I decided to do this little write up about how I feel about 3-D. Plain and simple, I think it’s incredibly stupid, moreso nowadays. I remember back when a movie being in 3-D was an event. It was a draw to see the movie because 3-D movies were a rarity which kept 3-D fresh. But today nearly all movies come out in 3-D and for no good reasons. There are so many movies that have absolutely no need for 3-D but for whatever reason the film makers throw it in. The only logical reason I can think is that they use the 3-D so much is so they can charge a few extra bucks on ticket prices. My biggest annoyance with the 3-D in so many movies is that they don’t use it well, it shows up a couple of times for the ol’ something coming at you gag and that’s it. I’m sorry, I watch movies for the story, character development, and acting, not for cheap, unneeded gags.
My movie that set me off on this tangent is Titanic. The film is going to be re-released into theaters this year in 3-D. Now I completely understand re-releasing the film because it’s one of the most successful movies and has an enormous fan base. If they left it alone I would have no reason to complain, but there is absolutely no reason to put this movie in 3-D. I mean really, do you think fans want to see the iceberg coming at that them?! (I’m sure there are a few weirdos who do). But in all seriousness, leave films like this one alone, it doesn’t need to be in 3-D, most films don’t. Take a lesson from Star Wars: Episode I; movies transferred into 3-D likely turn out crappy, you know why, it wasn’t filmed with 3-D Cameras.
I’ll stop my ranting here and just say that 3-D has become such a gimmick these days and I’m still waiting to see a movie that uses the 3-D well. I want it to feel necessary, not just for things popping out and added depth of vision.
